Are you sure you mean 'file'? Or a Quicken 'account'? What do you really want to do? Please always tell us which version of Quicken you are using. The answer often varies between Q2002 and Q2007, or between Basic and Home & Business. In Q007, if you want to move a transaction from a checking account to a credit card account, for example, you can right-click on the transaction in the checking register and choose Move Transaction. Select multiple transactions to be moved in the usual Windows way, by using the Ctrl or Shift keys to make the selections.
Or you can Copy Transaction and then Paste Transaction into another register. But when I tried this just now, the multiple-transaction Paste did not seem to work.
I did not investigate further, but I'm guessing that this is the question you are really asking. Is that right? Hi, ndcdfm1 How's this for serendipity?;^) Skimming through some old messages this morning, I found this in a post by (who else?) John Pollard on 2/4/05 in a thread with the Subject: Last Chance to Escape: If you have the problem that SColeman refers to - the need to merge two Quicken files - you could try a combination of export/import Lists, if needed, combined with Q2005's ability to cut/copy/paste multiple transactions at once. Even between files.
The files must be on the same machine and you can not close Quicken until you have completed the cut/paste (so you cut from file 1, open file 2, paste into file 2). As I said, I've never tried this and didn't know it was possible, but it might work for you. BeanSmart.com is a site by and for consumers of financial services and advice.
